Wild Thing Randy & Shelley Knapp

Wild Thing was a “one of a kind” parlor kaleidoscope made in 2018. It was one of three “one of a kind” parlors made in 2018 of Box Elder Burl, the others being Focus and Pearl. The name derives from the presence of a “wild” edge (sometimes called a live edge) on the Box Elder Burl of the stand and the base of the scope and on the ends of the turning spokes. A “wild” edge is the natural surface of the burl which when the bark is cleaned off to the bare wood, leaves a knobby appearance. The object cell is fluid filled with a black background and dichroic filters or windows on the side. The cell contains flame worked glass including “Lucinis” in a bright palette.
