My Collection

Why I Collect

I have been collecting since 1995. My first scope came from Pat Asay at La Casitas De Kaleidoscopes in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I still have that scope, and since then, many have come and gone from Pandor's Box, and large Parlor scopes to small production and limited edition scopes. It seems my collection is always in transition and has been refined to a select group of great artists. I love the craftsmanship, creativity, finishes, and images. I rotate many to my desk in my home office so I may enjoy them throughout the day. I'm grateful to enjoy these for some period of time and to protect them for generations to come. I'm sure someday, these will move through my family and to other collectors to be shared and protected for many years to come. We truly do not own them, we are just the caretakers. My collection includes scopes by the following Artists. Bob, Ade, Steven Auger, Joan Bazzel, JR Beall, Henry Bergeson, Janice Chesnik, Steve Gray, Toomoo Hosono, Mai Kagiwara, Kaliedovisions, Charles Karadimos, Steve and Peggy Kittleson, Shelley and Randy Knapp, Paul and Susan Knox, Jack Lazarowski, Prism Designs, Sherry Moser, Carol and Thomas Paretti, David Rosenfeldt, Bob and Sue Rioux, Sue Ross, Howard Smith, Will Smith, Charles Sorg, Dominic Stora, Glen & Ben Straub, Massino Strino, Marc Tickle, Corki Weeks Jay Cpella, Frank and Janet Higgins, Fumi Ino, Sandra Christie, Axel Nilsson, Yasuko Nakasoto, Robert Stephan, Van Cort Classics, David and Deibbie Rosenfelt.

Favorite Scope Type

All are amazing and wonderful . The big parlor scopes from Steven Gray, Charles Karadimos, Peggy and Steve Kittleson, JR Beall, Ben and Glen Straub, marc Tickle, Henry Bergeson and Corki Weeks. and Pandora's Box to name a few. Getting lost in a big parlor Scope is a nice way to spend time.

Favorite Part of Collecting

Ever changing, no two scopes nor images are alike. Love the feel, texture and design of the wood, or shimmering glass body, the sparkle of object chambers, amazing craftsmanship, and enduring creativity. I am always shocked and pleasantly happy when guests come in and do not understand that these kaleidoscopes are made by hand, a love of design and perfection. The never ending colors in the images and the exterior, just as important as ro what is inside. One gaze into a Steven Gray ESPY from Within or parasols, a Sue Rioux cavalcade of shape and design, The Imagination of a Kittleson scope truly evidence by view of their scopes and their Inside Out scope. Precise execution by Charles Karadimos, creations in slumped glass is as truly unique as is the inside. The touch of the wood and design by Bergeson and the Knapps. Detail and a softness to the wood. All of the object chamber piece made by hand to make it one of kind. Marc Tickle 's magic in imagery, painting and overall creativity with the mirrors to creating floating objects, such as a bee. Knapp designs in wood and glass, Pandora's Box, incredible. Fumi Ono perfection to the visual and touch. JR Beall, another perfection in wood, painting, paper and glass. Sherry Mosers imagination, Charles Sorg , amazing glass work and design , Glen and Ben Straub, Perfection in wood and design. The incredible imagination of Corki Weeks, I have been blessed with so many I have not listed. All come with magic. Visitors leave knowing this is a unique art form involving, wood, glass, acrylics and most of all--- light. How blessed I have been to have had so many that came to me and went on to be shared with others. Understand that every artist strikes a chord with me. I may have not listed them, however look at the long list of artists and their unique view of the world and their craft. I still have my very first Kaleidoscope. There are many other artists I did not mention and they all have the same characteristics. Seeing the world through different lenses, glass and wood.
