Biography/Artist Statement

My name is Scott Aleshire, and I am inspired by subtle visual textures and immersive environments, hence the kaleidoscopes! I studied Geology at Ohio State, which is where I took my first ceramics course. My academic interest in Earth materials and processes has definitely inspired me to express myself with ceramics. Then, I decided to start making kaleidoscopes! My exploration of natural texture and the subtle visual expressions of the world seem neverending. I am constantly informed by the outcomes of my work, and I seek to employ new design techniques through the development of complex surface designs and geometric patterns. I enjoy the process of creation for it's ability to meticulously cleanse the spirit and to infinitely inspire us. In my opinion, looking through a kaleidoscope makes anybody into an exceptional artist.
